Post 5/5 workshop

Did students at 219 get a chance to thin out seedlings as per our workshop.  I know testing is taking away time from thinning plants, but see if you can get it in soon.  How is the work coming on the Garden Box at St. Helena?  Lot's of precipitation coming this week so watering should not be a problem.  Keep on trucking.  whoops I meant planting.    Jeff

February 16 Professional Development

Teachers who are associated with the Bronx Community Garden project (BronxPLOT) took part in a videoconferencing session with the NY Botanical Gardens to learn about the types of foods that can be grown at this time of year and the length of time it will take to grow them.  Teachers learned how to sketch the garden area to accommodate the different types of vegetables that they may want to grow - some seeds work well with some but not others.  The teachers also developed a time line of events… Continue

Welcome!

Welcome to the Bronx Community Garden PLOT ning! This is the site for all of the updates regarding our garden experiment. Through this project, we hope to increase awareness of the importance of healthy eating, especially in an urban neighborhood with very few healthy food options.

Our teachers and students will post their pictures, poems, videos, and anything else that they have done to help this project succeed. We hope this garden will be a model for other neighborhoods and schools to attempt so we can spread healthy eating throughout the Bronx and beyond!

May 16th will be our next professional development session via videoconference with the NYBG! Today was a great session!!

I am attaching materials for our next PD here. Please print if you would like to have them with you tomorrow.
